In this course, we’ll take the voicings and concepts from the Circle of Fifths course and put them into practice with the Charleston comping rhythm.
Finally, we’ll explore how to bring in blues scales and other soloing techniques to make the tune come alive.
Course Objectives #
By the end of this course, you will:
- Understand the 32-bar form (ABAC) of Sweet Georgia Brown and how it’s structured.
- Recognize and practice the circle of fifths progression as a foundation for fluency.
- Use the Charleston rhythm to comp.
- Apply blues techniques over the I → IV movement.
- Develop solo strategies that combine circle-of-fifths patterns with blues vocabulary.
